Being a professional and juggling all the things we need to fulfill our the many facets of our lives sometimes require some creative thinking like shopping online during lunch breaks while mentally planning tomorrow and talking to mom in the cab. Sometimes our mental health and community service doesn’t make the daily or weekly cut. And that part of life doesn’t always get the love and attention it needs. Life gets hectic. But that’s why God created vacations.

Yes vacations are typically designated for that well deserved “me time,” but what about the service?

Trending now: vacations with purpose. Making the most out of a 5-day vacation is increasingly becoming more important to professionals, especially as work-life becomes more demanding. BBB4th Annual SimplyRides.com Auto Show Mixer NYC April 7

Each year, Simplyrides.com puts on an event to welcome drivers and car fans into New York City during the New York Auto Show. This year, things will be a little different as the founder and editor in chief, SekouWrites, premieres his monumental project “Brown Boy Bad (?)” This event will not only be a mixing and mingling kind of shindig, but it will also be an event where attendees will have the pleasure of watching the premiere episode of “Brown Boy Bad(?)” (More info here) Attendees will have the opportunity to donate to the production of the full web series and contribute to the continued effort of raising awareness about issues regarding race.

AIDS Walk NYC May 17

The walk, which is 30 years old, usually begins and ends in Central Park, New York. According to the organization’s website, funds raised at this event help finance education prevention, advocacy programs and care for thousands of New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.

Parsons Fashion Benefit NYC May 19

The 67th fashion-off will be held in honor of LVMH Moët Hennessy, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs. Funds raised at the event support scholarships to The New School for students who would otherwise be unable to attend the university.

sweetlifeSweetlife Festival Columbia, MD May 30 & 31

Good food and weather can only be exacted with good music right? Sweetgreen, a farm to table culinary company, established the Sweetlife Festival to bring all the great elements together in one place. This event is expected to be jam packed with the latest and greatest artists including Kendrick Lemar and The Weekend.

The added bonus of this delightful festival is that “proceeds from Sweetlife support ‘Sweetgreen in Schools,’ an educational program we created to introduce kids to the benefits of healthy eating and nutrition. Our program is organized as a series of wellness workshops, involving more than 2,500 students across DC, MD, NY + PA each year.” Great right?

Rockland-Bergen Music Festival NY June 27 & 28

If you’re a music fan and especially love some Rock n’ Roll, then Rockland-Bergen has the event for you. It’s two days of non-stop music, food and fun in New York. Though this just sounds like summer concert, it’s also a place where several charitable organizations will be present, including Light of Day Foundation which is dedicated to raising money and awareness to Parkinson’s Disease.
